Portugal hosts Eurographic Press 2005 Meeting E-mail

The Eurographic Press, association of the European graphic press, had its 2005 annual meeting in Cascais, Portugal.  The European journalists arrived and began the agenda of events foreseen for 2005.  

The meeting started with a visit to Inapa’s headquarters in Sintra, and then a visit to Printer Portuguesa.  In the following day, the journalists visited Portucel Soporcel’s headquarters and mill in Setúbal, and at night they joined Sun Chemical for dinner.  The meeting where the present and future of Graphical Arts in Europe is discussed took place in November, 26th. Following its annual meeting, Eurographic Press has declared the various aquisitions of Kodak in the field of prepress and digital printing during 2005 as the top event of the year of the industry. Its assets in the graphic business include now Creo, Encad, KPG, Kodak Versamark, and Nexpress. According to EP, other top events of 2005 were the purchase of Vutek by EFI, HP’s aquistion of Scitex Vision, the formation of the XSYS ink group, the purchase of Sicpa’s packaging ink division by Siegwerk and the phenomenal growth of the German equity Arquana in the European web press market with its purchase of a number of web press companies in various countries. At night a closing Gala disclosed the CMYK Awards winners, a Europeanwide print quality contest.
